I am writing this from the middle. Not from the other side of the promise. Not from a place of arrival. I am in the hallway right now — and I want you to know something before we go any further. I am not wavering. And neither are you.
The enemy has been making deliveries to your door. Packages wrapped in doubt. Boxes labeled with questions that sound reasonable, feel familiar, and arrive right on time — usually in the quiet, usually at night, usually when nothing around you looks the way God said it would.
Did I miss it? Is it too late? Has God moved on?
Those thoughts may come. They will come. But hear me clearly — they are not yours. You do not have to open them. You do not have to entertain them. You do not have to sign for that package.
A thought knocking on the door of your mind is not the same thing as a truth you are obligated to live by. The enemy is a liar and the father of lies — and his greatest weapon in the hallway is getting you to claim as your own what was never yours to carry. Leave it on the porch.
You are a believer. You are standing on the Word of God. And the Word of God has not changed.
"The heaven, even the heavens, are the LORD's: but the earth hath he given to the children of men."
Psalm 115:16
The earth. Given. To us. Past tense. Settled. You do not give an inheritance to a person you are finished with. God gave the earth to the children of men. He has not asked for it back. He has not reassigned your portion to someone more qualified. He has not closed the file on your promise because the hallway got long or the silence got loud.
That is not encouragement. That is evidence. He is not finished with you. The promise is still in motion. And the fact that you cannot see it yet does not mean it is not happening — it means God is working in places you do not have access to. Not yet.
What Is Actually Happening in the Silence
The hardest part of the hallway is not the waiting. It is the silence. Because silence does not feel like preparation. It feels like nothing. And when nothing is visible, the enemy shows up with his packages and starts knocking.
But here is what is actually happening in the silence: God is working. Right now. In hearts you cannot see. In circumstances you have no visibility into. He is closing wrong doors before you walk through them. He is positioning people you have not met yet. He is building the road you are going to walk on before you ever set foot on it.
The silence is not empty. It is full of everything God is not ready to show you yet.
This is not a season of abandonment. This is a season of preparation. And preparation always happens before promotion — never after.
Every Great Man and Woman of Faith Stood Here
Every great man and woman of faith in Scripture stood exactly where you are standing right now. Between the promise and the fulfillment. In the middle. In the silence. And what they did there decided everything.
Mary said yes to the angel — and then walked nine months while the miracle grew where nobody could see it. She could not prove it. Most people did not believe it. The circumstances did not match the promise. So what did she do? She worshipped. "My soul doth magnify the Lord." Before the manger. Before the proof. In the hallway — full faith, full voice, full surrender.
David was anointed king as a teenager and spent years running from Saul, hiding in caves, leading broken men with nothing but a promise. The crown was real. It just was not on his head yet. So what did he do? He kept worshipping. He kept coming back to God. He refused to grab what had been promised before God gave it. The Psalms were not written from a throne. They were written in the hallway.
Joseph dreamed at seventeen and spent thirteen years in a pit, a slave house, and a prison before the palace. Thirteen years. So what did he do? He served — fully, faithfully, without self-pity — wherever he was placed. He did not sit down and wait to be rescued. He was faithful in the small place because he trusted God with the large one.
"He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief, but was strong in faith, giving glory to God, and being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was also able to perform."
Romans 4:20–21
Strong in faith. Giving glory. Fully persuaded. In year twenty-three of a twenty-five year hallway.
And the disciples — three days after the crucifixion, sitting in a silence so total it felt like everything was over. Every promise. Every miracle. Every word He had spoken. All of it appeared finished. Nobody saw Sunday coming from inside Saturday. But Sunday came anyway.
You Control One Thing
You cannot control the silence. You cannot control the timing, the circumstances, or how long the hallway is. You cannot force the door open or make the promise arrive on your schedule. But you control one thing. Your response. And your response is the deciding factor.
"Without faith it is impossible to please him."
Hebrews 11:6
"All things are possible to him that believeth."
Mark 9:23
Without faith — impossible. With faith — all things. That is the law of the Kingdom. And it means the hallway is not deciding your outcome. Your faith in the hallway is.
The enemy knows this. That is why the hallway is where he works the hardest — showing up with packages, knocking on doors, asking questions designed to sound like your own thoughts. He is not trying to steal your promise. He is trying to steal your faith. Because he knows that if he can get you to put it down, you walk out of the hallway empty handed.
You know what to do with those packages. Leave them on the porch.
"Fight the good fight of faith."
1 Timothy 6:12
A fight. Not a feeling. Not easy believing when everything looks right. A fight — which means there is opposition, resistance, an enemy on the other side who does not want you to hold on. Hold on anyway.
See It. Believe It. Receive It. Live It.
Take the side of faith and victory right now. Not when the door opens. Not when the promise arrives. Now. In the middle. In the silence. In the hallway.
- See it. The promise God spoke over your life is more real than anything you can currently see. Fix your eyes on it. Hold it in front of you like the reality it is — because in the Kingdom of God, what He said is more real than what you can see.
- Believe it. Before the evidence. Before the confirmation. Before the hallway ends. That is what every person in Hebrews 11 did — they believed before they could see, and the seeing came because they believed.
- Receive it. Stop bracing for disappointment and start posturing for fulfillment. Open your hands. Open your heart. God is not withholding — He is building. Receive it by faith before you hold it in your hands.
- Live it. Walk it. Experience it. Right now. In the middle. The joy of the Lord is not waiting for you at the end of the hallway. It is available to you inside it.
The peace that passes understanding is yours now — because the God who is fulfilling the promise is with you while He fulfills it. He is in the hallway with you. He has been here the whole time.
"The earth hath he given to the children of men."
Psalm 115:16
Given. Still yours. Not revoked. Not reassigned. Not canceled because the hallway got long or the packages piled up on the porch. The promise is still in motion. The Word is still true. God is still working. And He is not finished with you.
So stand. Fight. Hold the promise with both hands and refuse to let it go. When the packages arrive — and they will — you know who sent them and you know what to do.
"Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God."
Matthew 4:4
The hallway is not the end of your story. It is just where God is still writing it. And He has never once left a story unfinished.
Don't quit. Because the One who made the promise — He does not lie.
